Abstract

The integration of mobile computers within existing data networks are expected to increase applications that execute on mobile hosts. One of the vital issues that need to be considered in mobile computing environments is the recovery to a consistent global system state following a voluntary shutdown. The approach presented in the paper enables applications running on the mobile host to recover when the system shutdown properly. It is designed as a part of MaROS system which is an application development platform for mobile computers. Involuntary system crashes require additional methods such as a global checkpointing which is not covered here.
